I cannot begin to explain how disgusted I get when I try to wade back into the media to at least find something to write about on this blog. I mean, I tell myself that despite everything I know about them, I should still go over to the NY Times and see what is happening in the world. I think after reading this article, I am finally over that. See, now that Barack Obama has officially won the election, the Times thinks that means that it is open season to rub everyone elses nose into it. You know, I don’t mind if the winning side gloats a little, that comes with winning, but is it too much to ask to go to one of the leading newspapers in this country and not find such juvenile drivel on the front page? And to top the whole thing off, the author of this waste of pixels calls out the losers of the election for being gracious in defeat:
That whole anti-American, friend-to-the-terrorists thing about President-elect Barack Obama? Never mind…
Just a few weeks ago, at the height of the campaign, Representative Michele Bachmann of Minnesota told Chris Matthews of MSNBC that, when it came to Mr. Obama, “I’m very concerned that he may have anti-American views.”
But there she was on Wednesday, after narrowly escaping defeat because of those comments, saying she was “extremely grateful that we have an African-American who has won this year.” Ms. Bachmann, a Republican, called Mr. Obama’s victory, which included her state, “a tremendous signal we sent.”
And it was not too long ago that Senator John McCain’s running mate, Gov. Sarah Palin of Alaska, accused Mr. Obama of “palling around with terrorists.”
But she took an entirely different tone on Thursday, when she chastised reporters for asking her questions about her war with some staff members in the McCain campaign at such a heady time. “Barack Obama has been elected president,” Ms. Palin said. “Let us, let us — let him — be able to kind of savor this moment, one, and not let the pettiness of maybe internal workings of the campaign erode any of the recognition of this historic moment that we’re in. And God bless Barack Obama and his beautiful family.”
Who is this guy? He sounds like some hollywood gossip rag hack writing about how so and so’s ex reacted to the new girlfriend. But this is front page NYT. For somebody who is supposed to be covering the Washington beat, he sounds like he just fell off the turnip truck. So let me spell it out for him. A couple of weeks ago both sides were competing for the most powerful office in the world. The Republicans lost. Now they are graciously congratulating their former foes, just as has happened in every election for the last several hundred years. That in itself is an incredible story. Fights for such staggering amounts of power usually don’t end without bloodshed. For some reason this bozo thinks that sort of behavior is deserving of derision, scorn, and the almighty snark.
But come to think about it, maybe I shouldn’t be surprised at this reaction. The Obamanation believes in nothing but itself. Doing anything to win, however immoral, is justifiable, because they deserve to win. When they win, it is absolutely acceptable to inflict as much damage as possible on their former opponents. And If they lose it is TOTALLY NOT FAIR!!!!! These are, after all, the people that promised blood in the streets, and country-wide riots if they lost arent’they? A while back the first lady of hate in the DNC, Donna Brazile, suggested that “there will be blood” if Hillary Clinton won the primary, then loudmouth James Carville had this to say if Obama lost the general:
CARVILLE: Let me be clear, I said you can call the dogs and light the fire and leave the house. I think it sounds over.
Now let me be clear here, if Obama goes in this race with a 5- point lead and losing this election, the consequences are — bull, man. I mean I don’t think that’s going to happen, but I think David it’s a point to bring up
But you stop and contemplate this country if Obama goes in and he has a consistent five point lead and loses the election, it would be very, very, very dramatic out there.
To be fair, they weren’t actually suggesting to people that they riot. They just know what thuggish, narcissistic, goons the obama supporters are. They are correctly analyzing how they would react to a defeat, no matter how legitimate. In Donna’s case, however, I’m sure she would be out there with the rest of them. She really is a vile contemptable human being…
I can take comfort in knowing that at least the candidates I supported played by the rules, and when the game was over offered their hand in congratulations to their former foes. What a perfect time to catch them off guard and throw dirt in their faces. Makes me proud to be an American…
