I hate to say I told you so….

December 2, 2008

Oh, who am I kidding?  I TOLD YOU SO!!!!

Obama’s outspoken opposition to the Iraq war before he toldyou2became a U.S. senator was one of the reasons he was embraced early in the presidential race by the anti-war faction of the Democratic Party’s base, so his apparent decision to keep a Bush adviser as defense secretary for at least a year has raised some eyebrows within that faction.

So those very smart people who run the progressive blogosphere, who told those of us that questioned Obama’s credibility when it came to the Iraq war, and foreign policy in general, that we were not only misguided, but racists, were in fact wrong.  Maybe it was their vaguely racist desire to be the white people to put the first “black guy” in the oval office that blinded them to the fact that that “black guy” is a liar and an opportunist who would do anything to advance his own personal agenda, including stabbing them in the back after winning the election.  Remember Chris Bowers’ embarassing post that really showed what this was all about?

Wow, We Nominated The Black Guy

Wow, it is really happening: Barack Obama will be the Democratic nominee for President of the United States.

Maybe if Chris had been able to see past the color of Obama’s skin and into the content of his character he wouldn’t be feeling the remorse that he is now.  Chris and his progressive buddies have been taken to the cleaners, yet they still project a sense of bewilderment that would be comical if the matter weren’t so deadly serious.

Liberal blogger Chris Bowers of The Open Left says the message sent by the selection of Gates undermines Democrats.

“The message would be clear,” he writes in his blog. “Even Democrats agree that Democrats can’t run the military.”…

Bowers, a member of the Pennsylvania state Democratic committee, argues that Gates provided support and cover for practices from waterboarding to the use of psychotropic drugs on terror detainees.

“It is just so very frustrating,” Bowers writes. “It seems like the only place progressives are making any gains is in the House. We are being entirely left out of Obama’s major appointments so far. I guess everyone gets to play in Obama’s administration, except progressives.”

Yeah, so how does it feel to work hard for progressive goals only to be ignored and maligned?  Maybe you should have listened when we told you that Obama would continue the heinous policies of the Bush administration, like torture.  Maybe you should have stood up and demanded to be heard when Obama voted to gut the Constitution and allow the government to continue spying on its citizens.  Maybe you should have spent more time holding Obama accountable and less time calling those of us who did racist deadenders.

But hey, at least you elected the “black guy”, right?
