I was all set to comment that all this frantic believing is a reaction to the awfulness of the Bush years. Stupid, braindead even, but predictable. But the problem with that theory is it doesn’t explain why so many people had to believe in the biggest zero I’ve ever seen in the top levels of politics.

Anybody else in the running was less of a zero. So it feels like this must not have been an accident. Maybe the more desperate and disappointed people are, the less they sober up and the more they fall for fairy tales. Given that we’re in for a rough ride, and given that when the going gets tough, B0 votes “present,” it’s only going to be worse four years from now.

I wonder whether I could get political asylum somewhere?

The year-end reviews by facet of the media/entertainment industry [aren't they one & same now?] has hit me like salt poured into an open wound. They’re just another round of adolescent Obama pawn-porn and smearing McCain/Palin, sometimes Hillary [a rerun of that "vanquished" scenario].

I’m glad we have videos of these idiots, and I hope we document as many of the disgusting words/actions as possible, because I want everyone to take a look at them in 4 or 8 or 10 or 20 years, as long as it takes. I know the media lied this year, but too many people failed to use their critical thinking, their experience, their common sense, and their common decency this year. They have to see that at some point, or we the media selling of marketed empty suits will continue to elect our officials.

Would someone please just offer me one rationale on where these true believers are pinning their hopes on a guy who merely served a few terms in the IL legislature and then only a few hundred days in the Senate? What the hell am I missing here?

Yes Gary, what has me absolutely goshwoggled is that this “messiah/savior” drivel isn’t coming from the Right but from the left.

And you are so right about Adele Stan; she must be a very sad person if she looks for her path to redemption in a politician. I’m a lapsed Catholic but even I find that phrase blasphemous.
