Obama, I hold you responsible.

This is what happens when you do not confront and condemn homophobia and misogyny:

One man and two teens have been arrested on suspicion of gang-raping a woman last month in the San Francisco Bay area while allegedly taunting her for being a lesbian, police said Thursday as they searched for a fourth suspect…

Detectives say the 28-year-old victim was attacked on Dec. 13 after she got out of her car, which bore a rainbow gay pride sticker. The alleged attackers made comments indicating they knew she was a lesbian, police said.

The 45-minute attack started when one of the men approached the woman in the street, struck her with a blunt object, ordered her to disrobe and sexually assaulted her with the help of the others, according to detectives.

When the group saw another person approaching, they forced the victim back into her car and took her to a burned-out apartment building. She was raped again inside and outside the vehicle and left naked outside the building while the alleged assailants took her wallet and drove off in her car, police said.

Too many so called liberals have given Obama a pass for his homophobia and misogyny.  Legitimizing hate mongers like Rick Warren, who devote their lives to dehumanizing gays and lesbians, and demonizing women in general, is to become an accomplice to brutal acts such as these.  There can be no open dialogue with people that hate you.  Any liberal who does not condemn Obama for his pandering to hatefilled bigots is a hypocrite.  And to all of those who would dare say that gay rights are not the same as civil rights for all Americans, this is the fruit of your prejudice.  Jasmyn Cannick and Donna Brazile, and Leah Daughtry–you all have the blood of these brutal acts on your hands for having the temerity to suggest that our suffering is not equal to yours.  In the past, Democrats of all stripes would stand together in the face of homophobia, and insist that people like Bush be held accountable when acts of brutality like this occurred.  Now these same people are willing to look the other way.  And in this case, after a campaign that used misogyny as a weapon and now homophobia as a tool to gain political capital, Obama is as accountable as Rick Warren, or James Dobson, or Fred Phelps, or Pat Robertson, or George W. Bush for this horrific act of violence.   Shame on him, and shame on anyone who would try to lessen the impact that homophobia has on our community.
