To be called a racist, I mean. Seems Blago is saying that Reid told him that he didn’t want JJJ, Danny Davis, or Emil Jones appointed to the Senate. All of them are elected officials, and all of them are black. Reid preferred Tammy Duckworth, who lost her bid for a seat in the house, or IL attorney general Lisa Madigan, both non-black. Now some in the Chicago African American community are using the very same tactic that Obama (and backers like Reid) used during both the primary and the general election: scream RACIST!! at the top of your lungs whenever you don’t get your way:
William Walls of the Committee for a Better Chicago called Reid’s opposition to the appointment of Jackson, Davis or Jones, all of whom are black, an act of racism.
“The U.S. Senate is an institution that is primarily white and has been forever and some people are more comfortable with people of their own kind,” Walls told FOXNews.com. “Harry Reid seems to be one of those people.”
Walls has vowed to rally activists in an effort to politically defeat Illinois Sen. Dick Durbin and Secretary of State Jesse White if they don’t support Blagojevich’s appointment for the seat, Roland Burris.
Walls accused Reid of using White, who has refused to sign off on the appointment, to block Burris.
“It looks as though when Blagojevich didn’t do what (Reid) asked, he turned to Jesse White,” he said. “It looks like he’s going to achieve his objectives at all costs.”
Let’s see how long it takes Sen Reid to cave to the crazy race baiters in Chicago. I expect by Tuesday they’ll be rolling out the red carpet for Burris. I really don’t care who gets appointed really, but I do think that the fact that there are no African Americans in the Senate is a valid reason to endorse a black candidate, just as I’ve argued for increased representation for women. Walls’ accusations, along with those of Rep. Bobby Rush earlier this week, however, are insultingly ridiculous. Just as accusations of racism against me for not backing Darth Obama from day one have been. While I admit that it is a ball to watch the Democrat’s chickens come home to roost, it is starting to become downright absurd.
What Obama and his lackeys in the media are betting on is that this time the tactic won’t work. They don’t have what Lamont Hill of Fox news calls racial capital:
Burris would be the only black U.S. senator if confirmed. U.S. Rep. Bobby Rush stepped in at the press conference Tuesday to urge lawmakers not to reject Burris because of Blagojevich’s legal complications.
Marc Lamont Hill, Temple University professor, said the dispute should not be obscured by the issue of race, and Obama, as the first black president-elect, could use his “racial capital” to eliminate race as an issue.
This is from the other end of the outrageous spectrum of racial politics that Obama has unleashed. Apparently being black gives Obama powers that he would not otherwise have. He is allowed to talk to black people in a way that if done by a white person would be racist. We’ve seen this throughout the campaign actually…when Jesse Jackson wanted to cut Obama’s you-know-whats off for chastising black men to be better fathers. Jesse knew that what Obama was doing was demonstrating to white people that he had the “racial capital” to actually talk to black people in a way that they would never be allowed to, in essence giving them access to impose their political beliefs on them. This is why so many white obots were shocked at the outcome of prop 8 in California. they thought that Barack would be able to use his “racial capital” to erase homophobia in the black community. But Obama himself was smart enough to know that even he wasn’t going to be able to do that with a few slick words, even if he did want to. In fact that whole experience came very close to exposing the big lie that Obama has white supporters believing: that he can really be an agent for change in the black community itself. He can’t, and won’t, because it really isn’t in his interest to do so. Not to mention the fact that he probably recalls the acccusations that he wasn’t “black enough” from many voices in the AA community before it looked like he had a chance to win the primary. If he starts to try to throw this “racial capital” around, those voices might start to reappear.
And now we are about to see this proven true with the appointment of Burris. I don’t think that even Obama has the ability to stop the charges of racism that he himself has made a legitimate poltical weapon. With the help of the media of course. And speaking of them, they are doing their very best to support the Dem’s claims that this has nothing to do with race. In fact the Obama mouthpiece, CNN has already unleashed the smear machine against Burris, much as they did to Palin and Clinton before him. From a headline reading “Headstone lists deeds of Obama wannabe”:
Under the seal of the state of Illinois and the words “Trail Blazer,” Burris, 71, has listed his many firsts in granite, including being the state’s first African-American attorney general and the state’s first African-American comptroller.
The memorial also notes that Burris was the first African-American exchange student to Hamburg University in Germany from Southern Illinois University in 1959.
There appears to be enough room to add “U.S. senator” to the memorial, but Burris may never get a chance to serve in Washington.
I guess the point is that the not-dead-yet appointee is an egomaniac and that this is somehow demonstrative of what kind of man he is. Typical of the Obama propaganda machine. How many times did we see them malign the character of anyone who dared challenge the authority of Obama. I guess they figure this is more narcissitic than, say, wrting a memoir in your thirties about a life that nobody really cared about, and for the most part was a pure fantasy profile to give the author a certain amount of gravitas that he neither deserved nor had earned.
But anyway, here you go you fauxgressive fucks. This is what happens when you legitimize trivial accusations of racism for political gain. Nobody noticed (or cared) when this happened to the gay community after the passage of Prop 8. Gays and lesbians were called racists for daring to speak out about homophobia in the black community. We were blamed for getting what we deserved for not reaching out enough. (BTW, if ANYONE can point me to a voice from the African American political leadership that expressed solidarity with the gay community, or at least sympathy, for the passage of the proposition, I’d like to see it. All I’ve seen are charges of racism and criticism for not understanding the black community). Now this same false outrage is being unleashed on the Senate Democratic leadership, who are daring to challenge the legitimacy of a black man.
Like I said, I think they have a point in advocating that an African American replace Obama in the Senate. Although I think an African American woman might go further in rectifying deficiencies of minority representation in the body. In fact, I’ve seen no mention anywhere that Reid’s advocation of Duckworth and Madigan was not racist, but a nod to increasing the number of women in the Senate. Regardless, accusing people like Reid of being racists or attempting to “lynch” Burris are offensive and dangerous. Like I’ve said many times, this dilution of the horrors of real acts of racism will only hurt all minorities in the end. That said, seeing Reid squirm is quite satisfying after he legitimized the same tactics that were used on people like myself. The only thing better would be to see the black community turn on Obama himself when he tries to throw his weight behind Reid and the Senate Dems. Maybe he has less “racial capital” than he thinks.

When are going to have the allegory of “The Boy Who Cried Racist” that admonishes everyone to not throw the charge around lightly lest everyone ignore you when it really happens?
The entire Democratic party makes me sick, but the CBC is a real nexus for scum.

mawm, I was thinking the same thing back in May:

HA HA!! another corrupt Obama crony bites the dust:
That must be one hell of a “distraction”. I guess Obama told Judas to take a hike. More corruption we all can believe in…
January 4, 2009 at 3:00 pm
It’s only a matter of time before Obama gets on the bad side of the Congressional Black Caucus.
January 4, 2009 at 3:20 pm
Guess Bill wasn’t the Richardson Obama knew. This is getting better and better.
If Ninny Nancy Pelosi has any brains at all she will never again utter the phrase culture of corruption.
I love the karma of Richardson being investigated. I’ve loathed the little weasel ever since he planted the knife firmly in the backs of the Clintons. Karma baby, karma!
January 4, 2009 at 6:01 pm
Pass the popcorn, it is going to be a bumpy ride indeed! Let’s see Mr. Wimp Reid slither his way out of this mess. Only let me off at the next stop since I do not wish to share my space under the bus with this idiot. He is the most lackluster and ineffective Dem Majority Leader in history!
A pox on all their houses!
January 4, 2009 at 7:49 pm
“Racial capital”? “Racial capital?”
Christ on a bike.
I knew that judging people by the content of their characters was SRSLY Old Skool. But when are they going to stop driving nails into the coffin of the poor thing?

re: Bill Richardson – couldn’t happen to a more traitorous oaf. Dems da breaks, eh Billy boy? Heh.
January 5, 2009 at 1:22 am
You really couldn’t make this stuff up. Jeez and now Bozo is actually in Washington. My hope is the entire “transition team” will end up behind bars and the lady in the pant suit will be the last one standing – with all of us behind her cheering, of course.
January 5, 2009 at 1:28 am
I love the fact that sites like No Quarter are alluding to Reid being Geo. Wallace blocking the school house door!!
Oh baby! How it comes back to bite you in the ass!
January 5, 2009 at 7:19 am
Ha!Ha! Sweet photoshop! And ain’t it cute how they already started it with “not the Richardson we used to know?”
January 5, 2009 at 10:05 am
Wonderful post, but isn’t Tammy Duckworth Asian-American? Making her soirt of a person of color? I would have liked her, too, but in the meantime, this is most amusing. Part of the Great Clinton Mirror Curse, perhaps?
January 5, 2009 at 10:32 am
chatblu, I believe she is, that’s why I said they were “non-black”. Ms. Duckworth is also a woman, and disabled. I guess all of those minority statuses still don’t equal black in the eyes of bigots like Rush and Walls.
January 5, 2009 at 10:49 am
Dear Gary,
I lurk here often, but great posts deserve the effort leave at least a few words of support and applause. This one so nicely sums up the ridiculous knots that the Democratic Party has tied itself into.
Thanks for the effective writing.

Good article Gary! I am sick and tired of the garbage in the media and in Washington. Hopefully, the Clintons are giving up some pay back.
Fitzgerald knows Obama and his gang are dirty, why is he not stopping this nightmare?
I double Pat’s pox on all of their houses! That MO could get her nasty self into the White House makes me puke!

And, I am mad. My sweet, wonderful son just let to go back to California this morning!
January 5, 2009 at 3:01 pm
Gary, Perhaps we should set up a scale. Woman, plus Asian-Pacific, plus disabled = what percentage of black on the Rush scale?
January 5, 2009 at 3:14 pm
OT, but I am so happy to see Carol is still out there full of spit and passion! Hope you had a great time with Ryan and all those trees! Now we have Leon Panetta for CIA. Anyone want to wager when Reno and Donna Shallalah make a comeback appearance? Unbelievable!
Change? My tush!
Miss you too Carol.
January 5, 2009 at 4:09 pm
I’d love to see Janet Reno come back. Donna Shalela, not so sure.
January 5, 2009 at 5:20 pm
Thanks Pat – I am burying myself in work that makes me money. I am sick of the entire bunch of creeps that inhabit our public buildings!
Ryan and the trees and I are good. He actually dismantled one of them before he left. Still have 2 up! We enjoyed the beautiful lights on the 2 big trees – never added decorations. Too burned out!
I’m pretty sure the entire pending Obama cabinet with the exception of Hillary is participating in Pay for Play!

Carol, me too. I told Gary I was going to concentrate on making money. What can we do in the face of this corruption
January 5, 2009 at 8:39 pm
Hey Mawm – money is what I am going to pacify myself with. F*ck the psycho media and criminal politicians. Heard Hannity declare that every taxpayer in America could have a tax free 8 months for the huge giveaway that BO is going to try to pull on us. Additionally, I am sick of people declaring this economic meltdown is all Bush’s fault. Democrats in congress need to look in the mirror! CAROL HAKA

There is now some speculation that Eddy may be involved in the Richardson scheme as well. He was “straight” when he was with me. Must have come about during his time in Texas is all I can say.
Is there one politician in the USA who is no tainted? He has yet to be sworn in and already the corruption is beginning to smell. But what am I saying? Obama is pure!
January 6, 2009 at 7:43 am
BO is pure! That such a creature could keep his aura of sainthood while all around him are impure just adds to his incredibleness!
“Long Live BO” for when he leaves this corrupt den of fellow humans, he will surely be wisked away by his maker, and we will pilgramage to that great site yearly that we last knew him as a mere mortal!
Drugs, I need Drugs!

January 6, 2009 at 10:51 am
Actually, I got the xanax and only have had to have 1/2 since I gave up commenting on these sites all day!
That JJJ, Richardson, and others to follow have been slapped down does brighten my day! I still pay for the success of Berg.
Love everyone though! Keep up the good fight, don’t let us that fell to the wayside trip you up!

This is not the Democratic Party I knew.
January 6, 2009 at 11:46 am
At what point does the MSM wake up and say, “If the Clinton administration was the change we wanted, why didn’t we allow Hillary for POTUS?”
Not now, of course. We are still on the honeymoon, and it is sickeningly sweet and naive. Time mag photog on NPR yesterday was fawning over Obama family pics in a manner that would embarrass a first-time grandparent of a newborn.
