Now that it looks like Burris is going to become the junior senator from Illinois, the great Obama propaganda machine is trying to rewrite history again so that their leader doesn’t look like the two faced opportunist that he is. This is the statement that Obama released last week in regard to the Burris matter:
“Roland Burris is a good man and a fine public servant, but the Senate Democrats made it clear weeks ago that they cannot accept an appointment made by a governor who is accused of selling this very Senate seat. I agree with their decision, and it is extremely disappointing that Governor Blagojevich has chosen to ignore it. I believe the best resolution would be for the Governor to resign his office and allow a lawful and appropriate process of succession to take place. While Governor Blagojevich is entitled to his day in court, the people of Illinois are entitled to a functioning government and major decisions free of taint and controversy,” said President-elect Obama.
That seems to me to be a very clear position of support for Reid’s initial vow to never let Burris into the senate. Now it looks like Burris will be seated, as initially reported by the AP, although Reid is still saying it is not a done deal. But you can count on it because Obama is already trying to create the impression that he was never opposed to the appointment to begin with (Which comes as a shock to me, because we all know that Obama knows how to nurse a grudge). And since Obama is not known for his principles or his judgment (despite what the fawning press might say), it looks like his propaganda wing in the MSM has to do a little damage control.
In a press conference this morning, President-elect Barack Obama declined to take a position on whether to seat Burris.
Really??? The Politico article doesn’t mention Obama’s previous position, that Burris should not be seated. So Obama didn’t really decline to take a position at the news conference, he decided to pretend that his previous position never really existed. And the Obama Ministry of Truth is more than happy to dutifully report his lies. Or maybe it is just taken for granted now that whatever Obama says automatically becomes the postion that he has always held. Because as you know, we have always been at war with Eastasia…
